Mr. Garland Thompson (Altamaha District Vice Chairman) welcomes guests to an Invasive Plant Species Field Day in Coffee County.


Mr. Garland Thompson (center above), Coffee County Supervisor, and Chairman of the State Soil and Water Conservation Committee, was recently selected as Volunteer of the Year by the Coffee County Commission and the Douglas City Council. Mr. Thompson was honored April 26, 2007,  in Douglas, Ga. at the C.E.Weir Center before a crowd of 225 people. Mr. Thompson's many years of volunteer service, not only in the field of conservation, but in the Ag Community state wide, and in the local community for industrial development, economic development, and local civic organizations were cited. Mr. Thompson is a member of the University of Georgia College of Agriculture Hall of Fame, and the Ga. Association of Conservation District Supervisors Hall of Fame.  Congratulations to Mr. Garland Thompson. Brent Dykes, Acting Executive Director of the State Soil and Water Conservation Commission was Keynote Speaker for the event.
